National Drumline Camp 2022

That’s a wrap on the 2022 National Drumline Camp and tour!

Well, what can I say? It’s been a pretty wild couple of months!

The National Drumline Camp hit Perth for the very first time thanks to the hard work of James Chong, I got to work with the incredible Chelsea Levine of Seavine and Rhythm X fame for the first time, and had the privilege of linking up with Ralph Nader again for camps, workshops, and masterclasses all over the shop.

Across the two camps in Melbourne and Perth, we hosted nearly 80 campers total. Perth was our first non-residential camp and proved the success of this format, and the Melbourne camp was host in Melbourne for the first time rather than regional Victoria.

We presented a number of school workshops around Melbourne, and the D²Drumline had the opportunity to spend lots of quality time learning from and hanging with both Chelsea and Ralph. We all met so many amazing new people and had such a blast in the process.

This is why I do what I do. Amazing times with amazing people. Bringing the best educators in the world to students all across the country is such a privilege and to have the opportunity to play gigs and make so much wonderful music in the process is a true honour.

I have to say – when I had the first hare-brained scheme to create a camp like this way back in 2012, I never through it would turn into the amazing event that it has. Thanks to everyone who has been involved in the madness that was September / October 2022.

Can’t wait to do it all again next year!
